Page 2 of 2. Is this a new occurence or a bug in Debian because it’s really irritating. February 9th, I’ve only been to it a zillion times. One has to unzip and install manually? I thought once I edited my repository tree and added the ‘non free’ one and then installed the firmware that my command ‘dmesg grep zd’ would show something about firmeware being installed.

Sparklan WUBZ showing Fiberline WLU I have just been playing with synaptic package manager to install some buid stuff and just out of curiosity i looked for the zd files and found them, so ive installed them but again i get nowhere, ive restarted the system and nothing wireless still shows. If it’s Lenny the firmware is the same as that available at vebian.
Last edited by LordAnta; at Zv1211 do I get that firmware error message? I had Debian installed before and other debian-based distros installed and never had a problem. Please can someone give some input here, i think ive done a lot on my own, but im obviously out of my depth.

As far as I can tell, there’s nothing even close in Ubuntu. I’m considering installing Ubuntu, but I really hate Ubuntu’s nonfunctional “menu” package, and I’d rather have Debian’s performance for the 64meg laptop.

Hi, sorry that i wasn’t around but i had finals and had to present something to my thesis coordinator, so no forums for me. Lots of cards use the zd chipset If it’s Etch I’d suggest you forget about the firmware in the repos and get the firmware from sourceforge The firmware for Etch was for an older zd driver from before it became part of the kernel.
